Named after the Cuban town in which it was born around the Turn of the Century, the Daiquiri was invented by American miners and Cuban doctors as a way to fight disease. It is from this cocktail that it’s many, more fruity & frozen variations have arisen.
Originating in the 1890s, the Floradora is a fresh cool highball cocktail that still stands tall in the 21st century. The refreshing combo of raspberries, gin, lime and a bite of ginger beer is just right on a summer’s eve. The trick with this drink is to pick a gin that is not overly junipery (yep that’s a word). What better way to toast the happy couple than with a margarita made with rosemary?
4 oz Sauza Silver tequila
8 lemons (juice only)
3 cups club soda
4 tbs sugar
4 rosemary sprigs
Combine lemons, club soda, sugar, and tequila in pitcher. Mix well. Refrigerate until cold. Place 1 rosemary sprig in each of the 4 serving cups. Pour margarita and drink cold or iced. Serves 4.

Grapefruit is in season now, and it’s a fantastic cocktail ingredient! This creation comes from Grey Goose Vodka, created in honor of the upcoming Royal Wedding. While I don’t count myself among the people following these impending British nuptials, you can definitely count me among those who enjoy simple and tasty cocktails.
