Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka Review

post icon

Fall has arrived!  While I generally a bit depressed by the arrival of the cold weather and the end of summer, the one thing that I look forward to is pumpkin season.  Like Richard Cristy of the Howard Stern Show, I love all things pumpkin.  According to the New Yorker, “pumpkin is the new black”.  Needless to say, we were very excited when a bottle of Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie vodka arrived at our doorstep just in time for Halloween and Thanksgiving.  My only request is that they ratchet up its pumpkintude.  Here are our tasting notes:

Appearance:  clear, silvery white in color with viscous legs

Aroma:  medium notes of caramel, cream with slight notes of pumpkin

Palate:  smooth alcohol with medium-sweet notes of caramel, cream with the slightest hint of pumpkin and baking spice with a short length of lingering caramel and cream

Rating:  Average  I liked the smoothness of the vodka but was disappointed by it having only the slightest hint of pumpkin. I really wish that it had tasted like pumpkin pie, which is one of my favorite fall items and had the potential to make an interesting cocktail.  Instead, the vodka has strong caramel and cream notes.  It reminded me of the Caramel Creams that I ate as a kid.  The vodka wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
