Easy Deviled Eggs – Cocktail Eats

Deviled eggs are a tasty cocktail party finger food that you cannot go wrong serving!

They look fancy, but take less than 15 minutes to make.  Here’s my favorite, super-simple recipe:

Ingredients

12 eggs
½ cup safflower mayonnaise
2 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tbs chopped fresh parsley
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Paprika (garnish)

Instructions

Put eggs in a sauce pan, cover with water and add a splash of vinegar. Bring eggs to … Read more

Blood and Sand

post icon

This prohibition era cocktail was named after the 1922 film Blood and Sand, the story of a young boy who becomes a famous bull fighter staring Rudolph Valentino.

It seems like an odd mixture, but it works. What you get is a well balanced drink with a hint of fruitiness and some kick.

Top bartender Dale DeGroff tells the the story of how he thought it would be “godawful” until he tried it. So good, … Read more

Green Tea Gimlet

post icon

The theme for this Mixology Monday (hosted by Cocktail Virgin Slut) is tea. Tea cocktails are one of my favorites, so I jumped at the chance to update a classic cocktail with tea.

The Green Tea Gimlet is light and slightly sweet while still giving you what you came to a Gimlet for–vodka. And green tea is good for you. Does that mean this cocktail is good for you? I can’t say that, but I’ll … Read more

Pearaschino Bourbon Cocktail

Bourbon, pear and cherry … seriously, how can you go wrong with those flavors?

When you see maraschino liqueur in the ingredients, don’t think of those neon-red cherries that never go bad! It’s actually a liqueur made from real cherries, pit and all, that has a light nutty flavor.… Read more

Pineapple Mai Tai (AKA Pai Tai)

It’s cold, so let’s try a bit of the Tropics. Here’s a twist on the classic Mai Tai, AKA the Pai Tai!

Drink this while you pretend it’s still warm outside! (Unless you live in Hawaii, where I took this photo, in which case you don’t have to pretend)

This recipe differs from the Trader Vic’s recipe … but both are pretty tasty! This one includes pineapple juice because it is inspired by my recent … Read more

Sleepy Hollow Fizz

Created by Brian Miller of New York hotspot Death & Co, I thought this would be a great drink to welcome October (Rocktober for you a Rock ‘n Rollers) and begin the build up to Halloween. Death & Co will also be well represented at this weekend’s Manhattan Cocktail Classic. Courtesy of Flor de Caña Rum. Enjoy Brian’s scary Halloween take on the classic fizz.

Chocolate Milk Martini

Mixology Monday is back and this month the folks at eGullet are hosting. The topic for September is “Dizzy Diary” or more simply cocktails made with dairy products and eggs. Not sure how eggs made it in there as dairy, but hey, why not.

Having just completed the Bar Smarts course, I wanted to use some of my knowledge. I wanted to take a classic and modify it slightly and I chose the classic martini … Read more

Watermelon Granita

This Week’s Drink is brought to us by guest blogger Caitlin D. (@catincal).

I’m the kind of girl who giggles for no reason, loves twirly dresses and is the first to grab a karaoke microphone. Oh, and I love cocktails.

I’m a huge fan of outdoor dinner parties in the summer and love matching a festive, seasonal drink to a traditional BBQ menu. One of my favorite bartenders, Esteban Ordonez, created the following recipe with … Read more

Red-Headed Slut: RIP

Born in Key West, although some say it was Los Angeles, she was both great as a shot and on the rocks. She had a great run, delighting sorority girls and frat boys on spring break for decades. However, her time has come and the Red-Headed Slut has passed on.

She was given a proper New Orleans burial least Saturday night, complete with a preacher and marching band. The funeral procession began at Harrah’s directly … Read more
