This drink has enjoyed over a century of popularity. It was created at the Big Brass Rail, a bar in the Waldorf Hotel (before the Astoria Wing was built). The Waldorf-Astoria later moved uptown and the Empire State Building now stands in its place.

  • 1 ½ oz gin
  • ½ oz sweet vermouth
  • ½ oz dry vermouth
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • Dash angostura bitters
  • Orange slice for garnish

Combine ingredients (except the orange slice) together in a shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass, or over ice in an old fashioned glass.
