This month’s Mixology Monday is hosted by the Pegu Blog. The theme is limes!
Limes are an essential for a well-stocked bar. When I first saw the theme, I couldn’t get the “Put the Lime in the Coconut” song out of my head … so I incorporated both lime and coconut into this refreshing drink. Since today is also National Punch Day, I created a punch-like recipe. I had green tea syrup already prepared, so it was a simple choice. Maybe you’d like to experiment with using falernum, simple syrup, or liqueur. The lime garnish is not optional, as it increases the lime flavor and aroma!
So I present to you a cocktail with an unwieldy name based on a catchy song!
Ingredients
- 3 parts coconut water
- 3 parts white rum
- 2 parts green tea syrup*
- 1 ½ parts fresh lime juice
- Lime wheels to garnish
Instructions
Shake all liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into glass containing ice and top off with lime wheels.
*Green tea syrup:
1 part water
1 part sugar
1 green tea bag
Bring the water and sugar to a boil, then reduce heat and put in the green tea bag. Let simmer for 5 minutes then turn off heat. Leave the bag steeping for an additional 10 minutes, then remove and store syrup in a glass container in the refrigerator.
