There’s no better way to celebrate the first official day of Fall and mark the season’s change than with a spicy bourbon cocktail that not only tastes good, but also helps to warm you up! Basil Hayden’s Bourbon teamed up with top Chicago based mixologist Charles Joly to create the Equinox Spice – a combination of our trademark spicy bourbon and full bodied fall flavors like nutmeg, and milk stout beer. We like to thing that the cocktail represents the perfect fall day… in a glass! So as the sun crosses the celestial equator.. be sure to toast with Basil Hayden’s Equinox Spice!


  • 2 parts Basil Hayden’s Bourbon
  • 3/4 parts Heering Cherry Liquor
  • 1 dash Aromatic Bitters
  • 2 parts Milk Stout Beer
  • Fresh Nutmeg


1. Combine bourbon, cherry liquor and bitters in a mixing glass
2. Add ice and shake
3. Roll in the milk stout beer
4. Strain into an old fashioned glass with ice
5. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and cherry on top
