Tomorrow is National Rum Day, s if you’re looking to kick back a few drinks after work tomorrow, you’re in luck as National Rum Day encourages us to celebrate the spirit made from cane sugar. To help on your quest to raise a glass, DonQ Rum has two rum punch recipes that will transport you to the beaches of Puerto Rico in no time.

For novices or those in a hurry, we have a basic Rum Punch recipe using DonQ Gold. For more adventurous at-home mixologists, we’ve included a Pious Punch recipe from Charles Joly, Chief Mixologist of Chicago’s The Drawing Room, that uses DonQ Coco, agave nectar, Benedictine liqueur and ginger beer

  • 1 ½ oz. DonQ Gold rum
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp grenadine
  • 1 ½ oz DonQ Coco rum
  • ¼ oz agave nectar
  • ¼ oz fresh lemon juice
  • ¾ oz orange juice
  • ½ oz Benedictine liqueur
  • Splash ginger beer
  • One orange peel

In a cocktail shaker, add rum, juices, grenadine and ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice. Shake rum, juices, liqueur, nectar and ice. Top it with ginger beer. Roll drink once from shaker to glass. Mist with orange peel. Garnish with orange peel.
