The Zombie came on the scene in the 1930s at Don the Beachcomber in Los Angles. Invented by the Beachcomber, the original recipe was held close to his heart. In fact, the following recipe is most likely an approximation. Due to the mystery surrounding the recipe, their are several variations of the Zombie Recipe.

Named after the Cuban town in which it was born around the Turn of the Century, the Daiquiri was invented by American miners and Cuban doctors as a way to fight disease. It is from this cocktail that it’s many, more fruity & frozen variations have arisen.

1 1/2 oz Tequila Don Julio Blanco
1 oz agave nectar
2 fresh cranberries
1 thin slice jalapeño pepper
1/2 oz lime juice
1 jalapeño, garnish
Muddle jalapeño and cranberries in a highball glass. Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, agave nectar, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice.

1 1/2 oz Zacapa 23 Rum
1/2 oz ginger liqueur
4 dashes orange bitters
2 oz orange-guava juice
Combine Zacapa 23 Rum, ginger liqueur, orange bitters, and orange-guava juice into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Cover and shake until thoroughly chilled. Strain into a rocks glass.
