Absolut Los Angeles Review

The latest in Absolut’s City Series, Absolut Los Angeles is a vodka infused with the flavors of açai, acerola, pomegranate and blueberry. In a continuation of both the city series and their Global Cooling campaign, Absolut is donating $250,000 to Green Way LA, a group dedicated to improving urban life.

I am not a huge fan of flavored vodkas, but this one is wonderful. The nose is fruity and sweet, but not too sugary. You … Read more

Crystal Head Vodka Review

Dan Aykroyd’s new Crystal Head Vodka is making its rounds on the Internets. Why shouldn’t it? Even if the vodka is no good, the bottle is a glass skull! Who would want to have few glass skulls around the house. The vodka comes complete with the story of the 13 Crystal Heads.

Aykroyd explains, ”Brought together, the Crystal Heads are said to contain vast knowledge and enlightenment capable of unlocking our most enigmatic ancient mysteries. … Read more

Sobieski Vodka Review

We recently got our hands on a bottle of Sobieski Vodka, a premium vodka from Poland. Made from Golden Dankowski rye and named after a Polish king, this is real deal. In fact, Sobieski is the best-selling premium vodka in Poland.

And they know their vodka in Poland. It is said to be the birth place of vodka, though, of course, this claim is contested by others.

They also know in Poland that good vodka … Read more

Chivas Regal 25 Year Old Review

Chivas Regal has recently recreated its original blend (also a 25-year-old) with Master Blender Colin Scott’s lifetime achievement, Chivas Regal 25 Year Old. Mr. Scott unveiled this luxury scotch whisky at the New York Public Library in a private tasting. We must have missed our invite?

At least the Chivas folks were nice enough to send a sample. So here it goes:

On the nose, Chivas Regal 25 Year Old, has hints of caramel and … Read more

Remy V.S.O.P Bottle by David LaChapelle Review

Remy Martin recently partnered with artist David LaChapelle to create
a limited-edition VSOP bottle that unleashed the youthful energy of Remy Martin VSOP. Remy also asked LaChapelle to draw on the cognac’s origins, the cabaret scene at Parisian nightclubs during the Jazz Age. What he came up is a stunning bottle featuring a sensual woman dancing in a vibrant, intensely colored jungle with a powerful leopard leaping through the air.

Only 150,000 of these bottle … Read more

Dos Lunas Anejo Tequila Review

Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner and the folks at Dos Lunas sent over a bottle of their award winning añejo.

Dos Lunas Añejo is super-smooth, 100% natural ultra-premium tequila. It is double distilled and aged for eighteen months in bourbon and New American oak barrels. The bouquet is sweet with a slight spiciness. On the tongue, the añejo offers accents of warm vanilla and spiced plums. This a wonderful sipping tequila.

Stoli Blackberi Review

One of the many product we had the pleasure to try in Vegas is Stoli’s newest flavor, Blackberi. I don’t think it is available yet, but trust me it will be worth the wait. I tried it over ice with soda, a what a delightful twist to straight vodka. As with many other Stoli flavors, the blackberry flavor does not over power or taste too sweet. It is almost an essence of the fruit.

Pinky Vodka Review

Pinky is a new vodka from Sweden. Made by master wine tasters, it is a super premium vodka distilled 5 times. Pinky is then blended with 12 botanicals (most notably wild strawberries, rose petals and violets). Each of these botanicals is distilled separately prior to being blended with the vodka. This gives Pinky its namesake hue and vibrant flavor. Unlike other flavored vodkas, the Pinky process yields a ton of flavor but no excess sweetness.… Read more

Absolut 100 Review

Only one word can be used to describe Absolut new 100 proof Vodka—boozy. That’s what came to mind when we first cracked the bottle.

This entrant is the first Absolut product not packaged in a clear bottle. The makers wanted some mystery around the vodka, so they encased it in a impressive black bottle. With silver lettering, Absolut 100 is ready for a night on the town. Perfect for New Year’s Eve!

While the initial … Read more

Bambu Rum Review

We just got our hands on a (sigh) small bottle of the new quadruple distilled super premium rum, Bambu. I also had the pleasure to speak with David Kanbar, the creator of Bambu. David’s resume includes running day to day operations at Uncle Maurice’s Skyy Vodka prior to it’s sale to Campari.

So why start a rum company, I asked Mr. Kanbar?

He had always been a fan of the rum category, especially unaged white … Read more
