Rockin’ at the Hard Rock. Body English is a very hip two-level club in this off-the-strip rock-and-roll casino/hotel.

Tao – Las Vegas

Tao Night Club in the Venetian Hotel is amazingly decorated with an Asian theme. Think lots of candles and lots of Buddhas, kinda like a Temple. This three-story behemoth of a club was ranked one of the top 100 bars and clubs in the US for 2007. (The photo above is from the balcony. Nice view!)

The Franciscan – San Francisco

The Franciscan is a San Francisco classic located right in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. I feel it has the best food, views and martinis on the Wharf.

Buckeye Roadhouse – Mill Valley, CA

Great spot on the 101 in Marin where Sausalito and Mill Valley meet. It is a classic American roadhouse with a NorCal twist. Lots of wood, leather and stuffed animals on the walls. Plus it has great food and greater martinis!

This former dive bar has been a favorite of mine for sometime. With friendly bartenders, infused vodka, and kicking beats, Anu is an island of calm in the sea that is 6th Street in San Francisco.

Final Final

OK, so the name suggests that this should be the last stop. However, being the farthest away from home, we made it our first. I also chose the Final Final because it is one of my favorite sports bars in the San Francisco. It has tons of good quality flat screens, pool tables, some decent bar food and good strong drinks! It is also complete with all of the essential sports bar paraphernalia, … Read more

Sloppy Joe’s – Key West

Windows Mobile is going to help us chronicle our many travels to bars and events around the globe with their mobile and mapping technology. To kick this off—and with it being cold everywhere except Florida and Hawaii these days—, what would be more perfect than to visit Hemingway hangout in sunny, warm Key West institution Sloppy Joe’s Bar?

Located at Greene & Duval Streets in the heart of Key West, Sloppy Joe’s has been delighting … Read more

A Night In Vegas

I was recently in Vegas for a whirl wind 30 hours to attend Blogworld with the FM crew. After landing and attending the show, we set out to try some of the bars on the strip (there are a few).

First stop, the Irish Pub at NewYork NewYork for a few pints of Guinness (duh!). Next, we paused at a very tired cocktail lounge off the casino at the Excalibur. Trying to keep it simple, … Read more

An Interview with the King of Cocktails

For those who don’t know the Dale DeGroff, the legendary bartender who grew to fame at New York’s Rainbow Room, this is a great introduction to the man and his no nonsense cocktail philosophy. He is not only responsible for the Cosmopolitan, but for helping to make bartending the creative, respectable profession it is today.

When asked, “Any tips for home mixologists on making drinks at home?”

Says the King of Cocktails, “If you have … Read more
