Brass Monkey

We were going to do a Cinco de Mayo Drink, but felt this would be more appropriate today.  There are a number of drinks named the Brass Monkey.  We think the Beastie Boys would have been drinking this  recipe, equal parts mart liquor and orange juice. Not for the faint of heart.

We like the variation below too.

Lava Flow

This week’s drink is a classic tropical cocktail that I first had in Hawaii many years ago. An island favorite for sitting in the sun, the lava flow is a combination of fresh strawberry purée, coconut, pineapple juice and rum (for flavor). You can make the strawberry purée ahead of time and use left overs on pancakes or ice cream.

Golden Rum Punch

1 Bottle (750 ml) Light Rum
4 oz. Apricot Brandy
2 Cups Grapefruit Juice
1 Cup Pineapple Juice
Juice of 3 Lemons
4 Cups Club Soda
Orange Slices

Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl. Add a large block of ice.
Float orange slices on top.

Serves 25
