Wines That Rock For the Holidays and After

post iconThere’s a trend for celebrities, alive and dead, to have their own wine labels. These wines are fun and make a great gift to bring for a party. This is important as we enter fall and the party season. I know that we are often scratching our heads as to a fun and appropriate gift to bring to a party. There is the added pressure given that we right about wine and booze.

We have recently been exploring the rock-n-roll labels. Honestly, it’s been pretty fun. We didn’t have high expectations about the wines given that the focus was on the bottle. But, we weren’t disappointed. The quality varied but none of them were bad or undrinkable. In fact, most of them were pretty good.

Five Stunning Italian Red Wines To Kick Off 2012

post iconAs you know, I love all wine but I have a soft spot in my heart for Italian wine. While I enjoy the acidity and bright fruit flavors that most Italian wines exhibit, I love the passion that Italians, and particularly Italian winemakers, have for wine. It’s infectious. The Italians vinify varietals that 99.9% of the population has never heard of, including a number that date back to ancient Rome and the Greeks. The Italians do tons of crazy stuff with their grapes – the same grape could be vinified still or sparkling or left to dry on straw mats for sweet wine. What goes better with seafood and fish than white wine. …Read More

I don’t find it easy to make drink recommendations for most Jewish holidays. Most of the holidays are somber and don’t seem quite as festive as the Christian holidays (and for my love of other cultures, I will admit … Read more

Coquito

post icon

Coquito is an eggnog-like coconut cocktail served in Puerto Rico for Christmas. My interpretation of the drink includes cinnamon and nutmeg to combine the tropical flavors with the warm and cozy scents of traditional egg nog. It’s festive!

Some recipes I’ve seen include eggs, which I think makes the drink too rich. This recipe uses coconut milk. If you’re not sure how that is different from coconut water or cream of coconut, check out our … Read more
