BongXedo takes the old plastic funnel and tube you picked up at the local science supply shop and updates it for the 21st Century. Wearable, the BarXedo is almost like a beer bong vest. Liquor Snob calls it very “Tron” like, and who didn’t like Tron? It sports dual funnels, a de-foamer (fancy!), and delivers beer rapidly in a portable package that draws some looks. All for about $40 bucks.

Seen at a recent family wedding. Whereabouts unknown. Uncle Don (not sure who’s side of the family) whipped this together to keep the crowd well quenched. That’s my kind of wedding!
Richard writes, “When you’ve got a small-block 400, a trailer, assorted parts and the ability to custom fabricate a 6-inch tall replica of a blender blade out of stainless steel, what do you do with your spare time? Make the world’s fastest margarita machine.”… Read more
More lists. Here’s a collection of the most unusual bottle openers ever created from the folks at Double Viking (no idea why they are called Double Viking?). My favorite has to be the belt buckle “gitty gitty go” opener. The one picture here attaches to your fridge with a super strong magnet, so it stays put when you pop the top.

Jame Norton of Chow, put together this rather frightening list of truly awful drinks. The cocktails range from disgusting (e.g., the salmon colada: all the trappings of the original plus fresh salmon), the wacky (Hot “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buttered Rum”: just what you think), and the downright bizarre (Crazy Grapes: involves Everclear, white wine, grapes, juice, a power drill, an eyedropper, toothpicks, an Ikebana stand and matches).
The whole lot may be gross, … Read more

This post from Gothamist hits close to home. I started this site many years ago to get away from the dreaded Gin & Tonic. Not that there is any wrong with the simplicity of the gin, vodka, whiskey, tonic, soda combinations, they are efficient but let’s face it, boring.
Yes, this is the year of the cocktail and there are quite a few gourmet bartenders popping up in upscale bars, but still the ease of … Read more
Jeremy from Trendhunter.com explores the latest in beer. This fun list covers a few thing mentioned here, like the beer launching fridge (video) and the Milwaukee’s Best Light Beer Cannon (more video).
Cool new products include temperature sensitive labels from Coors, so you know when your beer is cold. A must when drinking Coors! There is also a Beer-Milk, a beer for Dogs, so Spot is not left out during the game and my favorite, … Read more
The Washington Post laid out this simple and affordable collection of spirits that will have you making Martinis, Mojitos and Manhattans in no time. These dozen well picked bottles can be had for a mere $187. Not a bad investment for the summer. Spend another $80 bucks on on 5 specialty bottles like Pernod and Campari, and you’ll have the ultimate summer bar.

After years of wanting an energy drink to go with my vodka that wasn’t something sickly sweet here at last I have found a player. Move over grandpa’s ginger ale or tonic and enter the new world of the energy mixer.
I enjoy one part Smirnoff Blueberry and two parts JetSet tonic.
