Memorial Day Food & Drink Recipes

In honor of those who have died in service to the country, America celebrates Memorial Day on the last Monday of May. It’s also a great time to say thanks to men and women who have served or are still serving in our military.

Since many people have the day off, it’s also one of the biggest barbecue and picnic days of the year. If you’ll be spending the day outdoors, here are some food and drink suggestions:

Drinks

Pimm’s Cup — Light and sparkling, this lemonade cocktail may be British but it’s a perfect thing to sip outside in America too.
Strawberry Basil Mojito — Strawberry and basil turn this refreshing Mojito into another lovely Spring cocktail.
Watermelon Agua Fresca Margarita — You already know that margaritas and warm weather go hand in hand. The same goes for watermelon!
Sweet Thang — Sweet-tea vodka and lemonade … can you say “made for barbecues”?

Food

Martha’s Quick BBQ Sauce — Making it yourself doesn’t have to take forever. Martha Stewart shows you how to whip up a last-minute BBQ sauce.
Bacon and Cheese Filled Burgers — If you’re grilling burgers, try this crowd-pleasing recipe.
Julia’s American Potato Salad — Julia Child’s picnic classic is a traditional choice for picnics and barbecues.
Grilled Zucchini with Garlic Lemon Butter — It doesn’t have to be all meat and potatoes if you try this simple grilled veggie recipe.
Minty Watermelon Salad — Chopped watermelon with blueberries, grapes and a light ginger-mint syrup will keep you cool and satisfied.
