Key West Fantasy Fest 2006

Having spent some time in Key West and being a big Halloween fan, this annual fall festival is incredible. Fantasy Fest has all the best of Mardi Gras, good music, great food and lots of drinks all with a cool tropical Halloween theme.

Fantasy Fest began back in 1978, when Joe Liszka, President of the County Tourism Board, noticed the perfect weather and lack of any tourists at all.So they did what folks in the Keys do, they threw a party—A TEN DAY PARTY! This year’s version runs from October 20 – 28.

The 28th installment is chock full of activities including parades, costume balls, nude body painting, a beach party, lots of live music and toms of drinking. Did we mention the Pet Parade where our four legged friend get to show off their Halloween costumes. The list goes on and on. I have yet to mention the Toga party at Sloppy Joe’s, the Homemade Bikini Contest at the Hog’s Breath and the main event on Saturday night, Captain Morgan’s Fantasy Fest Parade.

If you can’t make it, a bunch of these events will be available for viewing via web cam. Not bad, pull up to the computer with a key lime martini and party on.

So if you have a week to spare, get on the next flight to Key West and get weird. [link]
