It’s time to delve into unusual flavor combinations! This cocktail mixes ginger, citrus, honey and bell pepper for a sweet and spicy summer surprise. The ginger and bell pepper give it some kick, while the honey and orange add soothing sweetness.

Ginger Bell

1 ½ oz ginger vodka
½ oz honey-lemon bell pepper syrup*
1 oz fresh orange juice
Ginger ale to taste

In a cocktail shaker with ice, shake the vodka, syrup and orange juice. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Top off with ginger ale–about 1 or 2 ounces to taste.

*Honey-Lemon Bell Pepper Syrup

½ cup water
½ cup honey
peel of ½ a lemon
½ a yellow bell pepper (seeded)

Boil all ingredients together in a sauce pan, for about 5 minutes. Let cool. Strain out solids and refrigerate liquid syrup. Add a tablespoon of vodka to make the syrup last longer.
