This Week’s Drink – Brandy Amanda

This is quite a busy week, with Chinese New Year, Presidents Day and Fat Tuesday right in a row and the Oscars coming up on Sunday. So enjoy them all and watch for some new themed cocktails for your Oscar Party.

This week’s drink was sent in by reader Cavan and is a refreshing mixture of cognac, apricot brandy, and lemon-lime soda (and we just can’t find enough good brandy drinks!). Thanks, Cavan!

Mardi Gras 2007

Things are back in full swing again this Fat Tuesday. New Orleans, although not fully recovered from Katrina, is open for business. And on Fat Tuesday that business is beads, parades, and lots and lots of drinking. The good news is that you don’t have to be in the Big Easy to celebrate. Mardi Gras has become a national party holiday (less its religious meaning) and is celebrated by fun folks all over the country.… Read more

It’s Presidents Day!

Not all of out Commanders-in-Chief have been drinkers but many (actually most) have. Several, such as Thomas Jefferson and George Washington ran distilleries as part of their households. After signing the Declaration of Independence, the delegates drank heavily. As they did back then. The trend continues today.

Here’s some of the libations enjoyed by our presidents

    Gerald Ford: Gin and Tonic

Over the course of the night drink prices fluctuate like stocks on the NYSE. Prices are reset every 5–10 minutes depending on demand, the more popular the drink the higher the price. Suck & Blow

The perfect Valentine’s treat!

The Suck & Blow is a fun new way for people to share jello shots. Invented by Doug Hamer of South Carolina, the S&B, as it is known, is a jello shot encased in a six inch tube. What results is unabated, sexy fun. Two drinkers suck and blow to get the shot out of the tube. What a great ice breaker.

How Much Ice Do I Need?

Ice is the most important ingredient for any party. You’ll not only need lots of ice to cool down bottles of beer (or a keg) white wine and sodas, but you need it for mixed drinks as well. The good news is that ice is cheap, so buy lots of it.

We recommend getting at least pound of ice per person. This should make for a cool event.

Baileys Caramel & Mint Chocolate Liqueur Review

I have always been a huge fan of Baileys Irish Cream ever since I discovered it in my parents liquor cabinet many years ago.Since. I have enjoyed this classic cream whiskey liqueur on the rocks, in a mudslide and in coffee (of course).

Recently, the fine folks over in Ireland created two new kinds of Baileys for us to enjoy. The flavors are Baileys with a hint of Caramel and Baileys with a hint of … Read more
