Tuesday night marked the very first WhiskyFest held in my hometown, San Francisco. Those in the know have been enjoying this event in New York and Chicago for a decade. I was very eager for this event and I was not disappointed. Where else are you going to find over 200 whiskeys in one place (and a brandy, rum and gin thrown in for good measure)?

This week’s drink comes to us from 42 Below Vodka. It gets it dark and spooky look from a good amount of grape juice. 42 Below comes from New Zealand (42 degrees below the equator) and is a quadruple distilled premium bodka. This spooky Halloween treat takes advantage of the ever popular monk-made French liqueur chartreuse. This herbal treat has been made for centuries in one particular monestary, making it perfect for a Halloween potion.
1 oz apple brandy
½ oz Benedictine
½ oz yellow chartreuse
Dash angostura bitters
Combine everything in a shaker with ice. Mix well and stain in to a chilled cocktail glass.
