This year, Guinness is taking the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day well beyond wearing green and pinching those who don’t. In response to overwhelming public sentiment, Guinness is supporting Proposition 3-17, a national movement to make St. Patrick’s Day an officially-recognized holiday.

The world’s most famous Irish stout aims to collect at least one million petitioned signatures by midnight on March 16; if successful, the Guinness Brewmaster will fly to Washington D.C. on St. Patrick’s Day and demand that Congress acknowledge the will of The People. We suggest knocking Ted Kennedy’s door first.

How can you get involved?
First, sign the petition!

Then explore the cool site Guinness has set up. They put together a “Rally Kit” to help you throw your own party, er rally. The kit comes with a printable petition for all to sign, rally posters and some great Guinness recipes in case you get hungry. The site also has calendar of rallies and St. Patrick’s Day Parades, a chance for you to share your reasons for supporting Proposition 3-17 and multiple ways for you share it all with your friends.
