Wine for Day of the Dead

On a recent trip to Trader Joe’s, we came across a bottle of wine that we could not resist! As I have mentioned beore, I used to pick my wine based on the wine bottle. Gitane – A Sherry Spectacular

It’s not often that we offer a restaurant review on DOTW but this really isn’t a restaurant review, it’s more of a booze rave. We recently headed to Gitane in San Francisco to experience their cocktail menu. I have recently become interested in wine-based cocktails (and DOTW plans to bring you a new series on wine based cocktails soon) and we went out on a scouting mission. Fearing French Wine

post icon

I will admit that French wine scares me. Even after all the wine classes I have taken, France remains the great unknown and it seems unknowable. But I also realize that if I am going to be remotely close to becoming a wine goddess, I will need to know France. I will have to embrace France.

My goal during this shopping trip was to purchase wine from various regions of France excluding the Loire (not because I don’t like the Loire but because I feel most comfortable there; my wine group spent four weeks studying the Loire earlier this year) to increase my … Read more
