Tips for Spicing Up Your Margarita

If you love the spice, as I do, why not add a little heat to your Cinco de Mayo margaritas? From easy-peasy to a wee bit involved, here are some ways to spice it up:

    Instead of a plain salt rim, use a combination of kosher salt and cayenne pepper OR kosher salt and chili powder to rim your glass. We have simple instructions on how to rim a glass, if you need a refresher.

Sidra de la Mula (Apple Cider Mule)

Ingredients:
1.5 oz Espolón tequila blanco
12 oz bottle of Sidral Mundet
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 squeeze of a lemon slice

Directions:

Tequila Tangerine Dream

This cocktail combines the delicate flavors of tangerine and lavender with the kick of tequila. The unique and slightly salty flavor of tequila really comes through. With Cinco de Mayo coming up, you may even consider this as a light and slower-drinkin’ addition to your party menu. You can substitute rum for a slightly sweeter taste any time of year.

Every bride needs something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Luckily, this recipe made with Sauza Tequila’s new Sauza Blue has half of the items covered.

Ingredients:
1 ½ parts of Sauza Blue Silver Tequila
2 parts cranberry or raspberry juice
8 mint leaves for garnish
1 part lemon-lime soda

Directions:
Combine all ingredients except mint leaves in a pitcher. Serve each glass with 2 mint leaves. Serve cold or iced.

The Royal Rose-Marry Lemon Margarita

What better way to toast the happy couple than with a margarita made with rosemary?

Ingredients:
4 oz Sauza Silver tequila
8 lemons (juice only)
3 cups club soda
4 tbs sugar
4 rosemary sprigs

Directions:
Combine lemons, club soda, sugar, and tequila in pitcher. Mix well. Refrigerate until cold. Place 1 rosemary sprig in each of the 4 serving cups. Pour margarita and drink cold or iced. Serves 4.
