The Bacardi Mojito

Taking it’s name for the African word “mojo” or “little spell”, the Mojito has its roots in from the time’s of Sir Francis Drake. One of his sailors invente a drink named the Draque, made with an early form of Rum called Aquardiente, sugar lime and mint. The drink was widely use for medicial purposes in Havana. When Don Fancundo Bacardi Masso began distilling his famous rum, he altered the Draque and it became the Mighty Mojito.

Here is the original Bacardi Mojito recipe.

1 1/2 oz. BACARDI Rum
12 Fresh Mint Leaves
2 tbsp Sugar
1/2 of a firm Lime
6 oz. Club Soda

Place mint leaves, sugar and 1/2 lime in a glass. Muddle well with a pestle. Stir. Add BACARDI, then top off with club soda. Garnish with sprigs of mint, a lime wheel, or more rum.
