A Night In Vegas

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

I was recently in Vegas for a whirl wind 30 hours to attend Blogworld with the FM crew. After landing and attending the show, we set out to try some of the bars on the strip (there are a few).

First stop, the Irish Pub at NewYork NewYork for a few pints of Guinness (Duh!). Next we paused at a very tired cocktail lounge off the casino at the Excalibur. Trying to keep it simple, I ordered a round of martini (2 olives, 2 twists) to which the bartender look at me a said “is this going to be whole thing?”. I thought a Vegas bartender could handle making four martinis, but I guess the “busy” Thursday afternoon was a bit overwhelming for her (it was dead).

New Holiday Cocktails

Friday, November 30th, 2007

stocking.jpgThe nice people at Maker’s Mark and Herradura sent us some great new Holiday themed Cocktails.

Stocking - A combination of Herradura Silver Tequila and pomegranate juice

The folks at Herradua tell us “This authentic Mexican cocktail combines the season’s most celebrated fruit, the pomegranate, with the culture’s symbol of good luck, the herradura (the horseshoe). Historically known within Mexican culture as the fruta de la abundancia (fruit of abundance), the pomegranate plays a significant role in most food and drink recipes during the holiday season.”

On the whisky side of things Maker’s Mark offeres up Spiked Cocoa - a bourbon soaked hot chocolate - YUMMM! and their special twist on the classic Egg Nogg Punch. This recipe is prefect for a no hassle party punch.
