Night Club & Bar Convention - Las Vegas

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

pink vodkaThis week DOTW was in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada for The Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade show. And what a show it is! We were immediately greeted by pumping club music, hip modern booths and flowing samples of every kind of liquor, beer and mixer imaginable.

Our first stop was at PINK Vodka (pictured left), which is infused with caffeine & guarana, perfect for an early Vegas morning. OK, it was 11 O’Clock. They were mixing PINK with fresh fruit juices created by David, their talented mixologist.

red bullNext it was on to the Red Bull booth, er club (pictured right). Red Bull actually built a club on the trade show floor! We were greeted at the entrance to the booth by two girls in white vinyl outfits. Once inside there was a full bar (complete with stools) couches and two DJ spinning in front of a huge video screen. There were also a bunch more girls in the same outfits, some serving drinks and dancing on the bar! It’s hard work, but someone has to do it.

Maker’s Mark Bourbon Chocolates

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

The Maker’s Mark folks are at it again with the perfect Valentine’s Day Gift. We got a box of Maker’s Mark Bourbon Chocolates at Christmas and have never had a better liquor soaked confection. The mix bourbon with a creme filling so the liquor taste is smooth and doesn’t squirt out like other liquor filled chocolates I’ve had.

To help celebrate Valentine’s Day, Maker’s Mark sent along a few love poems to include with a box.

Unrequited Love For Another?

Roses are red, Violets are blue
You sit two cubes down
but I’ve never spoken to you
I found out that you’re single
when I checked you Facebook
I’m confident the chocolates will get me a
second look

A Night In Vegas

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

I was recently in Vegas for a whirl wind 30 hours to attend Blogworld with the FM crew. After landing and attending the show, we set out to try some of the bars on the strip (there are a few).

First stop, the Irish Pub at NewYork NewYork for a few pints of Guinness (Duh!). Next we paused at a very tired cocktail lounge off the casino at the Excalibur. Trying to keep it simple, I ordered a round of martini (2 olives, 2 twists) to which the bartender look at me a said “is this going to be whole thing?”. I thought a Vegas bartender could handle making four martinis, but I guess the “busy” Thursday afternoon was a bit overwhelming for her (it was dead).
