Tommy’s Joynt - San Francisco

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Tommys Joynt

Tommy’s Joynt at the corner of Geary& Van Ness has been a favorite of mine for years. As a kid, I insisted in coming here to savor the homey feel, knick-knacks covering the place and sumptuous Hofbrau fare. No that I am of age, I can also enjoy their beer menu that contains hundred of beers from all over the world and of course, a full bar. All this and great prices. mmmm. Did I mention the Bean & Beer soup?

Kate O'Brien's - SF

The bagpipes are blowing and the Guinness and Harp are flowing! What a way to start an all Irish weekend!

This little pub is a tribute to the neighborhood bars that make San Francisco famous for those seeking to unwind with their draft of choice. Located in the middle of the vibrant SOMA district Kate’s is an old favorite and truly the only Irish pub in the district.

Cheers!

Dirty Blonde

Friday, March 14th, 2008

dotw logoWe met Shaylin in Las Vegas at Pure during the Stella Artois Draught Masters Competition. She wanted share an Irish drink with all of us for the upcoming holiday …and since we met over Stella, it is only appropriate that we use her (careful not to abuse though).

It is a “Dirty Blonde” (and that is a Jameson’s Public House-voted Favorite Irish Pub in Iowa-term). We like to sayo “allow the Irish to be on top”. Guinness Draft and Stella Artois. And end with “she likes to be on the bottom” or “this is one time it’s okay she finishes last”!

Dirty Blonde

Guinness
Stella Artois

Make like a Black & Tan. Take a beer glass at a 45 degree angle. First add the the Stella Artois, then slowly pour in the Guinness (over an inverted spoon is best).

Rite Spot Cafe - San Francisco

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

rite spot
A local watering hole in the Mission District, the Rite Spot Cafe has been around for over 60 years. A dive bar that’s not a dive in the traditional sense — white table cloths on candlelit tables, live music and classic bar fare make this a fun neighborhood hang out.

Rockin’ at the Hard Rock. Body English is a very hip 2 level club in this off the strip rock & roll casino hotel.

Tao - Las Vegas

tao Las Vegas

Tao Night Club in the Venetian Hotel is amazingly decorated with an Asian theme. Think lots of candles and lots of Buddhas, kinda like a Temple. This 3 story behemoth of a Club was ranked one of the top 100 bars and clubs in the US for 2007. (the photo is from the balcony, nice view!)

The Franciscan - San Francisco

the Franciscan

The Franciscan is a San Francisco classic located right in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf. I feel it has the best food, views and martinis on the Wharf.
