A special Cinco de Mayo treat or everyone. Of course, we should be drinking Mint Juleps made with Tequila to honor both Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby!

This unique margarita is made with Organic Agave Nectar. This gives the drink an amazing flavor that ads sweetness with out adding a whole lot of calories. Said Jacques Bezuidenhout, noted San Francisco-based mixologist, “Bartenders will love the fact that this cocktail is so delicious and easy to make: you just shake over ice, taste to preference – no garnish, no salt, just pure agave taste.”

The recipe:

1 1/2oz. Partida Tequila Blanco, Reposado or Añejo
1 oz. lime juice (app. the juice from one lime)
¾ oz. pure, organic Partida Agave Nectar
¾ oz. pure spring water

Cinco de Mayo is one of my favorite holidays. Who wouldn’t like a holiday that celebrates a historic ass kicking (except the French in this case) with lots of Tequila, Cerveza and Mexican Food.

Introduced last year and perfect for Cinco de Mayo is Jose Cuervo’s Golden Margarita, a premium ready to serve margarita. Made from Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila, and Grand Marnier cognac-orange liqueur and lime juice, this 25 proof liqueur is surprisingly good for a ready to serve.

Playboy’s James Oliver Curry writes “The Grand Marnier’s sweet orange flavors overwhelm the lime, making this very drinkable indeed”.

The kind folks at Cuervo set us a few drinks to try using Golden Margarita, but no bottle? Hmmm… I guess for now we will take Playboy’s assessment. Here’s the drinks.

Served in Pair of Shot Glasses

Sangrita:
1 Lt. Tomato juice.
½ Lt. Fresh Orange Juice.
250 ml. Fresh Lemon Juice.
30 ml. Spicy sauce Valentina.
20 ml. Worchester sauce.
30 ml. Grenadine Syrup.
20 ml. Season sauce (Maggi).
20 ml. Tabasco sauce.
1 Little tablespoon of salt.
250 ml. Grapefruit soda.

Jamaica (Hibiscus) Margarita

Chill glass
Into Iced Shaker:
2 Shots Chilled/Sweet Agua de Jamaica (see below)
1 Shot Tequila Tezón Blanco
Shot Simple Syrup
Juice 1/2 lime
