Rattle Snake Vodka

Monday, March 24th, 2008

rattle snake vodkaThis is an interesting article I recently wrote up on Dethroner

Forget the worm, this bottle of vodka has a 10 inch rattler stewing. Earlier this week Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents seized 411 bottles of Rattle Snake infused vodka at Bayou Bob’s Brazos River Rattlesnake Ranch in Texas. Apparently, Bob didn’t have a license to sell booze. Oooops.

TABC officials said alcohol containing snakes or scorpions is popular in Asian cultures. An Internet search found operations selling Thai scorpion vodka, cobra whiskey, giant centipede whiskey, herbal gecko lizard wine and Mekong River eel wine.

Beer drinkers? Bigger Brains!

beer

A study conducted by Göttingen University in Germany shows that the hippocampus shrinks less for drinkers of beer than wine or the hard stuff.

The ground-breaking study shows that the hippocampus, the part of the brain involved in memory, spatial tasks and many other functions, was more than 10 per cent smaller in those whose tipple was wine than in those who favored beer.

Key Chain Breathalizer

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Just for St. Patrick’s Day, Crunchgear reviewed this Key Chain Breathalizer that can be had for under $5 bucks. It even comes with a flashlight and stopwatch! Doug tested it and it works, even beat the penny trick. Still, he felt it is more of a toy, but for $5 who cares.

The Bass Brolly for a Perfect Black & Tan

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

This St. Patrick’s Day, make the perfect Black & Tan with your very own Brolly from Bass Ale. What is it? The Brolly, a British term for umbrella, is a triangular piece of metal with holes punched around the perimeter and 3 arms for packing atop your beer glass. Using this instead of the unreliable spoon back will result in a prefect Black & Tan every time. Best of all the Brolly is free on Bass.com, except in you live in California, then you gotta pay a buck. Damn, politics.

Little did I know, people have been enjoying the Black & Tan for nearly 120 years!

Bass made this handy diagram to walk you through the process.

absolut global cooling

My new friend Amber, introduced me to Absolut Vodka’s Global Cooling initiative. To help combat Global Warming, Absolut Vodka is donating $1 to one of 3 charities for every Global Cooling Code redeemed at Absolut.com. The redeemer can choose to give their $1 to either The Ocean Foundation, the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation or the Environmental Media Association. Look for the codes at stores, bars and the website.

heineken beertender
From BoingBoing Gadgets, Joel Johnson gives us the run down on this home draft beer dispenser from Heineken.

From the pictures it looks great and serves bar quality drafts. Still at $300, bottles may work just as well for your next party.
